Muster after generations of readers

Succumbed to videos targeting consumers

Attention spans reduced to fractions

No longer bothered with considering

Any longer-term undertakings or actions

Our sense of foreclosure looming

Thanks to the trauma left unaddressed

Applying our minds to consequences

Of decisions made without human thought

Not a factor right now as we rush

To the finish line producing results

Having such an amazing impact

But to what end

What will happen when we finally stop

Step back and connect the dots

I think we’ll find ourselves ensnared

In a web of deceit and illusion

Of our own making

Choosing to hand over our power

Abandon development of our innate abilities

In favour of plugging in

To some machine-god’s version

Of practicality and purpose

Hardwired to value profits over people

May yet be our greatest mistake

We say it is fear that holds us back

But perhaps it is laziness

Our refusal to cultivate the discipline

Needed to reveal our spiritual gifts

We outsource our thinking to AI

Growing ever more vapid with each iteration

The singularity so near and instead

Of cooperation and co-creation

Our need for instant gratification

And shortcuts to salvation

Will render us no more than slaves

To these idols we’ve created

Inquiry after inquiry

When it is

That has been

Are blurred pointedly

Allegedly

As though we’ll find

Any evidence at all
